The Preon series from 4Sevens are fantastic little flashlights!  Using Cree's new super-bright XP-G R5 LED, they put out a ton of light for their diminutive size!  The beam is beautiful, having a very large hotspot that smoothly blends into the spill without any annoying rings or artifacts. 

Using the Preon lights is easy... just tighten the head (on the single AAA versions) or press the tail switch (on the 2 x AAA versions) and the light will come on at the low setting.  To change to a different output level, just tighten and loosen the head quickly on the single AAA versions, or half-press the tail switch on the 2 x AAA versions.  When turned off, it will revert back to the low level for next time.  The output levels are Low, Medium, and High.  But wait... there's more!  The Preons also have some hidden special levels... Strobe, SOS, Beacon (high output), and Beacon (low output).  To get to the special levels, just complete two Low/Med/High cycles within a timespan of a few seconds.  At this point you can cycle between the special levels.  When turned off, the light will go back to the normal mode of operation, and will come on next time at the usual low level.
